Below is the information on instructor training needed to certify you as a driver's ed instructor for NC with MPI. Note,commercial driving school instructors must also receive 64 hours of continuing education credits every 4 years to renew. MPI requires attending the NCDTSEA conference once a year to obtain the CEU's. The membership and conference fee is 160.00 annually, paid by the instructor.
To become a Driver Education Instructor, you must attend and satisfactorily pass an
80-hour Basic Driver Education Course. Mountain Professionals Driving School will provide a DMV approved basic driver education instructor course beginning in August. This course is for instructors who will teach for an established driving school, either a contractor or public school. The fee for the course is $250.00.
This course consists of a class and a behind the wheel driving/teaching, a combined minimum of 80 hours .The class portion will be taught over 4 weekends, utilizing a Friday night/Saturday class schedule. The Friday classes are from 4 PM - 8 PM and Saturdays are from 9 AM – 5 PM.

August 16th, 17th
August 24th (Saturday only)
The driving/teaching part of the course will be taught in a small group format and the schedules for driving/teaching will be set during the first class session.
The location for the class portion is Madison High School in Marshall, NC.
